Finding your Computer Name

A computer name is a unique name used by the network to identify a computer. It is recognized over a domain (a collection of related computers). You can change a computer name only if you are logged on as a member of Administrators or Domain Administrator.

To find your computer name:

  1. Click Microsoft Start in the Windows toolbar and select Settings art\settings_shg.gif , Control Panel art\ctl_pnl_shg.gif .

  2. In the Control Panel window, select Network art\network_shg.gif .

  3. In the Network dialog box, under the Identification tab, note the Computer Name.
