You define a sensor to measure result quantities at a pre-defined set of locations. You define a location by selecting vertices or specifying x, y, and z coordinates. Use sensors with the From Sensors option when probing result plots.

To define a sensor from model vertices:

  1. Click COSMOSWorks, Sensors or right-click Sensors in the COSMOS AnalysisManager and select Edit/define.

  2. In the PropertyManager, under Sensor List, click Add to name the new sensor.

  3. Under Selection, select vertices where you want to add sensors.

  4. Click to save the sensor.

To define a sensor from imported coordinates:

  1. Click COSMOSWorks, Sensors or right-click Sensors in the COSMOS AnalysisManager and select Edit/define.

  2. In the PropertyManager, under File Options, click Import to import sensor locations from a *.csv or *.txt file as a new sensor.

  3. Click to save the sensor.

To define a sensor when probing a model:

  1. In the Probe Result PropertyManager, populate the Results list with nodes or elements.

  2. Under Report Options, click Save as Sensor .

  3. In the dialog box, type a name for the sensor and click OK.
