The following procedure is used to assign materials to solid components or shells of your model using an existing material library file (*.lib), a SolidWorks material library file (solidworks materials.sldmat), or any user-defined library file (*.sldmat). The software comes with its own material library (COSMOS Materials.sldmat) that covers a wide range of materials of interest to engineering applications.
To assign a material from an existing material library file:
In theCOSMOS AnalysisManager tree, right-click the icon of the desired body in the Solids, Shells, or Beams folder of a study and select Apply/Edit Material.
The Material dialog box appears.
Under Select material source, do the following:
Click From library files.
All library files in the
Material library folder specified
in System Options, Default
library appear
in the list.
Select the desired material library file.
Select a material from the material tree.
Click OK.
