Defining Uniform Force

To apply a uniform force to a face in a certain direction:

  1. In the COSMOS AnalysisManager tree, right-click the Load/Restraint icon and select Force.

The Force PropertyManager appears.

  1. Under Type, click Apply force/moment.

  1. Click inside the Face, Edge, Plane, Axis for Direction box , then select the desired entity for direction.

  2. Click inside the Faces, Edges, Vertices for Force box , then select the face to which the force is applied.

  3. Select the desired Units .

  1. Under Force (Per entity), do one of the following:

  1. Click .

The software applies uniform force in the specified direction.

To apply uniform force normal to a face:

  1. In the COSMOS AnalysisManager tree, right-click the Load/Restraint icon and select Force.

The Force PropertyManager appears.

  1. Under Type, click Apply normal force.

  2. In the graphics area, click the face to which the force is applied.

  1. Select the force Units .

  2. In the Normal Force/Torque box, type the force value.

  3. Click .

To define uniform torque:

  1. In the COSMOS AnalysisManager tree, right-click the Load/Restraint icon and select Force.

The Force PropertyManager appears.

  1. Under Type, click Apply torque.

  2. Click inside the Faces for Torque box then select a face.

  1. Click inside the Axis, Edge, Cylindrical Face for Direction box then select an entity for direction.

  1. Select the desired Units .

  2. Under Normal Force/Torque, specify the Torque value .

  3. Click .
