The List Strain dialog box, accessed by clicking COSMOSWorks, List Results, Strain, lets you list strains for a static study.
Active Study. Displays the name of the active study.
Selected reference geometry. Lists the selected reference entity with respect to which the selected strain component is to be listed.
Step no. Select the step number at which the listing of strains is requested. Available only for nonlinear and drop test studies.
List type. Select Node values or Element values as the list type. Node values option lists the results at all nodes of the element. The Element values option lists the results at the element’s center.
List Options. Sets the listing options.
Extremes. Check this option to search for extreme values.
Criterion. Sets the criterion for extreme results.
Sort by value. If checked, activates the sorting of the list.
List values within. Sets the range of values to be listed. The default is to list values within 5% tolerance of the extreme value.
From..to... Check this button to specify the desired range of elements to be searched. Use this option to list strains sequentially with element numbers. Enter the lowest and the highest element numbers.
Shell Face. Sets the face (top or bottom) or strain type (bending/membrane) to list. The top and bottom options list total strains (membrane + bending) at the extreme top/bottom fibers.
Component. Sets the strain component to be searched for extreme values. Available only if Extremes is selected under List Options. The following strain components are available for listing:
EPSX: Normal strain in the X-direction of the selected reference geometry.
EPSY: Normal strain in the Y-direction of the selected reference geometry.
EPSZ: Normal strain in the Z-direction of the selected reference geometry.
GMXY: Shear strain in the Y direction in the YZ-plane of the selected reference geometry.
GMXZ: Shear strain in the Z direction in the YZ-plane of the selected reference geometry.
GMYZ: Shear strain in the Z direction in the XZ-plane of the selected reference geometry.
ESTRN: Equivalent strain.
SEDENS: Strain energy density.
ENERGY: Total strain energy.
E1: Normal strain in the first principal direction.
E2: Normal strain in the second principal direction.
E3: Normal strain in the third principal direction.
List Set. Sets the strain component to be listed. Choose to list basic strain components or strain energy and total energy. Available only if From is selected under List Options.
To list a strain component with respect to a selected reference geometry:
If needed, create the reference entity you want to use to list the desired strain component.
In the FeatureManager design tree, select the reference entity you created in step 1.
Click COSMOSWorks, List Results, Strain.
The List Strain dialog box opens.
Make sure that the reference
entity you selected appears in the Selected
reference geometry box.
Set the rest of the list options and click OK.
The List Results dialog box opens and a list of the selected strain component appears.
Click Save.
The Save As dialog box opens. You can save the list to an Excel file (*.csv) or as a plain text file (*.txt).
Click Close.
