Defining Design Scenarios

When you create a static, frequency, buckling, or thermal study, the software creates a Design Scenarios icon in the COSMOS AnalysisManager tree.

To define design scenarios:

  1. Define one or more parameters.

  2. Create a static, frequency, buckling, or thermal study. Link one or more parameters to define analysis related input like material properties, restraints, loads, mesh and other settings.

  3. In the COSMOS AnalysisManager tree, double-click the Design Scenarios icon in the desired study.

The Design Scenarios dialog box appears.

  1. On the Define Scenarios tab, do the following:

    1. Set the No. of scenarios to the number of sets (design scenarios) that you plan to define. You can define up to 10,000 sets.

The first column lists the parameters that are used in the study. The Units column lists the units of the parameter. The User defined column lists the values of the parameters as last defined or edited.

Parameters defined as expressions and used in the study do not appear in the table. However, independent parameters used in the related expressions appear and can be changed.

Each column defines a design scenario. The check mark indicates that the set is active. Unchecked columns are ignored when running the associate study. The User defined column lists the initial parameter values defined in the Parameter list box. These values cannot be edited in this table.

  1. On the Result Locations tab, choose up to 25 vertices to define desired result locations.
