Creating Linear Displacement

COSMOSMotion allows you to graphically display the distance between any two points on any two parts. This is called a linear displacement.

To create a linear displacement:

1. Display the Insert Linear Displacement dialog box using one of the following methods:

• From the Motion menu, point to Result Object and then select Linear Displacement.

• Right-click a moving part node in the Browser, point to Add Result Object and then select Linear Displacement.

• Right-click either the Results or Linear Displacement nodes in the Browser and then select Create Linear Displacement.

2. To select the first part used to measure the distance, select the Select First Component text box, and then select one moving part from the graphics screen.

3. To specify the point on the first part where the distance is measured, select the Select a point on the First Component text box, and then select a point from the graphics screen.

4. Repeat this process for the second component and the second point on that component.
