COSMOSMotion allows you to graphically display the reaction forces and moments that act on any part in the motion simulation.
To create an action/reaction force:
Display the Insert Action-Reaction Force dialog box using one of the following methods:
From the Motion menu, point to Forces and then select Action/Reaction Force.
In the browser, right-click the Forces branch and then select Add Action/Reaction Force.
In the browser, right-click the Action/Reaction branch and then select Add Action/Reaction Force.
Select one or two moving or ground parts in the browser, right-click any part, and then select Add Force Action/Reaction Force.
Select the components to which the force
is going to be applied.
The component names appear in the component text boxes.
For each component, select a vertex, circular edge, or linear edge to define the points at which the force is applied.
Select the points
in the same order as you selected the components. In other words, verify
that the first point that you select belongs to the first component selected
and the second point belongs to the second component selected. If you
select the points in the opposite order as the components, your mechanism
may not behave properly.
Select the Function tab.
Set Function
Type to Step,
Harmonic,
Spline, or
Expression. Complete the options for the function.
If you select Expression, you can use the Function Builder to add Step,
Harmonic, or Spline functions. If there is an expression in the Force
Expression text box that is not highlighted, the Function Builder adds
the new function to the existing expression. If the expression is highlighted,
it is replaced by the expression created in the Function Builder. Learn
about the Function Builder.
Select Apply to create the force and close the dialog box.
