Joint limits, also referred to as mate limits, are mapped SolidWorks distance/angle constraints. These mates restrict the movement of a joint to a specific range (for example, an arm is restricted to rotate only between 10 and 70 degrees).
The following are the distance joint limit types:
Plane - plane
Plane - line
Plane - point
Line - line
Line - point
Point - point
Cone - cone
The following are the angle joint limit types:
Plane - plane
Line - line
To monitor the angle or distance limit, COSMOSMotion internally creates a sensor to check if the limit is exceeded during a solve.
Sensor values are monitored at each output frame. If a sensor ends the simulation, the solver will step back to the last frame before that sensor value was exceeded.
