The compositing process you use is determined by the type of clips that you want to composite together. For example, if a foreground clip has an external matte, use the Composite with Matte operator. If the foreground clip has an internal matte, use the Over operator. If you need to create a matte for the foreground clip, use the keyer, and so on.
The Composite operators are available from the Ops > Composite menu in the FxTree or directly from the Composite tab of the Operator Selector.
The Composite category contains the following operators:
The Composite with Matte operator composites a foreground image over a background image using an external matte.
The Composite with Matte operator requires an RGB(A) background clip, an RGB(A) foreground clip, and a matte (A) clip.
The Math Composite operator composites a foreground image over a background image by mathematically adding or subtracting pixel values. You can control the portion of the foreground element to be added or subtracted.
The Math Composite operator requires one background and one foreground clip of any type.
The Over operator composites a foreground image over a background image using the foreground image’s internal matte.
The Over operator requires a RGB(A) background clip and RGBA foreground clip.
The Z Composite operator allows you to composite a foreground image over a background image using additional depth (z) information. Z depth inputs can be .Zpic images or any grayscale images.
This operator requires a background and foreground RGBA clip as well as a background and foreground Z Depth clip (A).
The Keyer operator uses a matte to composite areas of the foreground image over the background image. The matte can be extracted from either the foreground image or an independent matte input, in terms of chroma, luma, RGB, HSV, or a mathematical expression. The keyer offers comprehensive facilities for matte manipulation and color correction.
This operator requires an RGB background clip and an RGB foreground clip.
If necessary, it can also accept an independent RGB matte clip. If a clip is connected into this input, this clip is used to create the matte, but the original foreground is used in the final composite.
The Gradient operator produces an RGBA gradient according to one of several predefined patterns.
This operator requires one input clip of any type.
The Shape Paste operator allows you to create, manipulate, and color simple shapes on input images.
This operator requires one input clip of any type.
The Shape Cutter operator lets you create and manipulate simple shapes to add an alpha channel to an image. Because Shape Cutter only affects the alpha channel, you will not be able to see its effect unless you enable the alpha channel display in the Fx viewer.
This operator requires an RGB input clip.
