Setting Up Your Visual Basic Environment

To successfully create a plug-in project in Visual Basic, you first need to set your environment in the command prompt and then create a project.

You must use either the Enterprise or Professional edition of Visual Basic, since the Standard edition does not provide ActiveX component implementation.

Visual Basic 5 changes the registry setting shared by Visual C++, which may cause conflicts if you are developing in both environments. To optimize your ability to develop in the Windows environment, use Visual Basic 6, Service Pack 1.
