Section Properties Tool

Activate the Section Properties Tool and then right click on it to see the Section Properties Tool dialog.

Note: You can also get to the Section Properties Tool by clicking on the Edit Section Properties icon from the Views and Grids toolbar.
You can type in a section name and section properties (that you have calculated manually) and then click Add to create a list of sections.
Alternatively, you can use the database (Dbase...) or Custom options to help you retrieve standard data or create the properties for a section whose shape you specify.
Select the database (Dbase...) option to access an international database of standard steel sections.

Select sections by clicking a section shape and then using the drop down menus to choose a specific section size. Once the details for your required section is shown click Add to => to add this section to the List of sections to add to local database.
Once your list of sections is complete click OK to add these to the list of sections available in your model (your local database).
Once you have created the list of sections you are going to use, you can select a section from the drop down list in the Data Bar and then apply it (by clicking on or drawing a window around) members in the usual manner.
