Member Creation

Again there are many different ways to create members:
· you can create a single member by
· clicking on joints (join the dots),
· clicking on grid intersection points1 to create members (and the joints at their ends if these do not already exist),
· You can create a number of members by:
· either of the above two methods if you set a No. of Links greater than 1,
· choosing a single member or a pattern of members (from the list) and then identifying an area of the structure (left click and drag) which contains either joints or a grid to create members between all joints or all grid intersections within that area.

Example: If you draw a window around the grid we created earlier with the Rectangular pattern selected, you would create the pattern shown above, S-Frame has created all the horizontal and vertical members together with the joints at their ends.
S-Frame has many frame and truss generators that you can use to create more sophisticated arrangements of joints and members. You will find all these on the Edit menu.
Help: For information see Other generation options.
When you have created members you can also add a new member between any two existing members, automatically splitting those members and creating new joints as necessary.
Help: For further information see Creating a New Member Between Two Existing Members.
Tip: To delete members hold down the Ctrl key, left mouse click & drag. This will delete the members within the selection window.
Note: This will only delete the members because the deletion is limited to the active tool (in this case Member Definition). If you need to delete joints - select the Joints Tool and repeat the Ctrl + left mouse click & drag.
1Provided that you have defined and are using a grid.
