Joint Tool

There are several ways you can create joints:
· you can create a single joint by:
· entering its coordinates into the Data Bar and clicking Accept Data ( ),
· left clicking on any grid point,
· you can create a number of joints by:
· identifying an area of the grid (left click and drag) to create joints at all grid intersections within that area,
· generating a set of joints. To do this right mouse click over the Geometry Tools toolbox while the Joint Tool is active to see the Joint Tool dialog,

Note: This allows you to change to different coordinate systems (including spherical if you are creating a 3D model). In the above example a series of joints will be created around an arc.
· creating members directly using a grid. In this case the joints at either end of the member are created automatically if necessary,
· using a pattern generator (of which there are many), these automatically create both members and joints.
Tip: We strongly advise you to save your model periodically as you create it. After all you never can tell when a power outage or such like might occur and its better to lose a few minutes work, rather than many hours of effort.
