Inserting Structural Steel

Use the following procedure to insert the following:

§         Hollow structural sections

§         Tees

§         Standard beams

§         Wide flange beams

To insert channels or angle irons, see Inserting Channels and Angle Irons.

To insert hollow structural sections, tees and beams…

1.   From the Structural Steel tab, select the required structural steel button.
        

The structural steel insertion dialog box appears. The Wide Flange dialog box appears in this example.

2.   From the Steel Insertion View options, select the required insertion view.

3.   From the Insertion Point options, select the required insertion point.

If an insertion point option appears gray, it is not available for the selected insertion view.

4.   Click Draw [Wide Flange].

The structural steel size selection dialog box appears.

5.   From the scroll list, select the required steel size.

6.   Click OK.

7.   In the drawing, click where you want to insert the start point.

8.   Click to select the end point (or rotation angle for sectional views).

The structural steel element appears in the drawing.
