Inserting Horizontal Vessels

You can insert horizontal vessels in plan or elevation view.

AutoORTHO inserts the vessel components as a single selectable group. You can move the entire vessel by selecting a single item in the vessel group, such as line or block.

When you insert a 2:1 semi-elliptical or dished head, AutoORTHO adds a straight flange distance of 2" (50mm) between the head and vessel's seam line.

You can modify this value in the Straight Flange Distance for Vessel Heads field on the General Parameters dialog box of the Project Manager.

To insert a horizontal vessel…

1.   From the Equipment tab, select Horizontal Vessel.

The Vessels dialog box appears.

2.   In this dialog box, do the following:

Head Type options

Select the required head type

Orientation options

Select whether you want to insert the vessel in Plan View or Elevation

Outside Diameter input box

Type the outside diameter of the vessel, or click Digitize and click in the drawing to set the diameter value

Seam to Seam Length input box

Type the seam to seam length of the vessel, or click Digitize and click in the drawing to set the seam to seam length value

Add Supports options

Set whether or not to insert supports with the vessel

Add Boot options 

Set whether or not to insert a boot with the vessel

3.   Click Draw Vessel. The vessel appears in the drawing.

If you want to add supports or a boot to the vessel, continue to the next two sections.
