Inserting General Valves

Use this procedure to insert the following valves:

§         Flanged

§         Welded

§         Screwed

§         Socket Welded

To insert a valve…

1.   From the Valves tab, select a valve type.

2.   In the drawing, click where you want to insert the valve.

3.   Click to select the direction.

The valve appears in the drawing.

If the Valve Stem toggle is active, the Add Stem dialog box appears (see Inserting Valve Stems).

4.   On the Add Stem dialog box, choose one of the following options:

Notes for Socket Weld Valves: In single line drafting mode, the depth of socket is represented in the overall length of valve body as shown in the above diagram.

In double line drafting mode, construction lines appear on both sides of the valve body to represent the socket depth. When you add pipe or a pipe nipple, select the center of the socket as the start point. You can trim the pipe protrusion into the valve body if necessary.
