Selecting a Drafting Mode

When you start a new drawing, a dialog box prompts you to select the drafting mode.

The drafting mode determines which symbols you can insert in your drawing. Different tools appear in the Toolbox for each mode.

If you want to use both layout and schematic symbols in your drawing, start the drawing in layout mode.

In layout drafting mode:

•  All components are inserted to scale

•  The drawing scale affects the appearance of component images and text

•  You can insert schematic symbols as well as layout symbols

To display the layout tools, click AutoELECTRIC Layout Menu on the bottom of the Toolbox.

In schematic drafting mode:

•  Components are not inserted to scale

•  You cannot insert layout symbols

To display the schematic tools when you are in layout mode, click AutoELECTRIC Schematic Menu on the bottom of the Toolbox.
