Importing Project from External File

The Importing Project from External File command allows transferring of main projects into a project database.  This is most useful for Personal Editions and standalone installations of the Small Business Edition.  

The imported project file will contain information on all sub-projects, line numbers, specs selected, drawings and user roles and permissions.  Note that the actual specifications are not imported.  The original project will remain intact in its original location.

To import a project from an external file...

1. From the Tools menu, select Importing Project from External File.

2. The Open Export project file dialog appears.  Navigate to the project export file with an extension *.pef and highlight the file.

3. Click the OK button to import the exported project file.  

If the main project or any subproject has an identical name to any existing projects, a dialog will appear asking for a new name for the project being imported.
