Creating an Orthographic Drawing in Elevation View

You can create one or more Orthographic drawings from a 3D model. The component content of an Orthographic drawing is defined by the base region and height range.

Elevation view, unlike the Plan view, does not have any elevation sections, but allows different views – Top, East, West, North, South.

To create an Orthographic drawing in Elevation view…

1.    Open the model for which you want to make Orthographic drawings.

2.    Either click on the Design menu and choose Make Ortho, or click the Make Ortho button from the Changes tab.

      
 

       The 3DSMART Ortho Manager dialog box appears.

3.    Select the Create New Ortho radio button.

       The following General dialog box appears.

 

4.    Specify a name in the Unique Name textbox and enter a different description if desired.

5.    Click the Elevation view button and select from the options Top, East, West, North, or South.

       Type the coordinates to specify two points of a rectangle area for the base plane.

6.    Click the pick button.

       The AutoCAD screen appears.

       Specify Opposite Corner appears in the command line.

7.    Using the base plane area as a guide, click two points (counterclockwise) to define the coordinates.

       The General dialog box reappears and displays the coordinates you selected.

8.    Click Next.

 

The Elevations dialog box appears.

      

9.   Choose a method for defining elevation(s) using one of the following options:

 

The 3DSMART Ortho Manager reappears with the Ortho.

In the 3DSMART Ortho Manager, you can use the buttons at the top to create new, edit, delete or view an Ortho item list, and generate a drawing.

You can also right click on the Ortho item to get a menu with several options.

10. Click Generate to create the Orthographic drawing(s) in AutoCAD.
