Revolving and Rotating Components

There are two ways to rotate components using 3D Modeler:

§         Revolve

§         Rotating around an axis

When you revolve a component you can change the orientation of the component before you place it. You can only revolve one component at a time.

When you rotate using an axis you can rotate single components or groups of components. You cannot preview or manipulate the components in any way while rotating them.

To revolve a component...

1.   On the Toolbox Changes tab, click the Revolve button.

Select component to revolve appears in the command line.

2.   Select the component you want to revolve.

Select connection point appears in the command line.

3.   Click a point on the selected component. The object will rotate around the point you select in this step.

Rotate/Base point/Exit appears in the command line.

4.   In the command line, type r.

Rotation angle? appears in the command line.

5.   Type the rotation angle.

6.   Press Enter.

The component appears in its new orientation.

Do you want to continue rotating this component appears in the command line.

7.   Do one of the following:

To rotate components around an axis...

1.   In the Changes tab, click the Rotate button.

Select objects appears in the command line.

2.   Select the component(s) to be rotated, then press Enter.

Select start point of rotation axis appears in the command line.

3.   Select a point on the group of components that you are going to rotate.  This is the first of two points that define the axis of rotation.

Select end point of rotation axis appears in the command line.

4.   Select the second point to define the axis of rotation.

Rotation angle or enter for reference to XY plane appears in the command line.

Ø   Note: The reference to XY plane feature is not currently available.

5.   In the command line, type the desired rotation angle.

6.   Press Enter.

The component(s) appears in the new orientation.
