Creating Details

It is often necessary to detail one piece of steel in order to make it fit correctly for connection to another.

To perform this procedure your design must include two pieces of steel to connect.

Ø      Note: Once detailed, a piece of steel becomes multiple objects. The undetailed steel is the parent object, and each detail is a child object. If you move, copy, or erase a parent piece, the child objects are also moved, copied or erased.

To detail a piece of steel...

1.   In the Structural steel component toolbar, click the Cutouts tab.

2.   From the Cutouts options, click the Detail Steel button.

The Select Component dialog box appears with a list of all available detail types.

3.   Click the detail type you want.

Select steel to be modified appears in the command line.

4.   Click the piece of steel you want to modify.

Select steel to detail appears in the command line.

5.   Click the piece of steel you want to use to define the profile of the detail.
