The following is a general guideline for placing most components in most design systems. Note that for pipes, there some fine discrepancies between placing pipes and other components.

2. Click the required component button.
OR
Press Enter if you wish to repeat placing the previous component.
OR
Right-click anywhere on the Toolbox to view the context menu and select one of the recently used components displayed on the bottom portion.
Select Connection point or specify Reference point appears in the command line.
3. In the design, click the connection point you wish to attach the new component to. Connection points will appear when you move the cursor over the component in the drawing.
Ø Notes: When connecting Pipes, the command line will then prompt you with Select point for end of pipe. The length of pipe will be specified when the second point is selected in the drawing, or by the length that is typed at the command prompt.
4. A Select Component dialog box appears if required.
Click on the desired component size.
Specify option [Base point/Rotate/Enter] appears in the command line. Some components will not display the Base point or the Rotate command.
5. Do one of the following:
§ Press Enter to place the item in its current position and orientation.
§ Type b in the command line to change the component's connection point. Press Enter. The connection point changes and Specify option [Base point/Rotate/Enter]: appears in the command line. If you want a different connection point, type b in the command line again. When you are done, press Enter.
§ Type r in the command line to change the orientation of the item. Press Enter. Type the rotation angle in the command line. Press Enter. The orientation changes and Specify option [Base point/Rotate/Exit]: appears in the command line. Press Enter to accept the new orientation or, if you want a different orientation, type r in the command line again and type a new rotation value.
Ø Notes: It is not necessary to specify component direction as this is obtained from the connection point.
