This tag must be present and contains attributes that define the units for bore and length used in the rest of the data.

Optionally, the tag may contain an attribute called ADJACENT-JOINED, which if set to “Yes” enables a different length adjustment method in ISOGEN.

If this control is set, ISOGEN computes the cut piece adjustment on the basis that two adjacent Bends can be pulled by using an over long length of pipe, bending the Spool, then cutting out the intermediate straight to produce the required result.

This tag sets the rule for selecting Elbows in the ISOGEN data that may be swapped for Pulled bends. This information is used by the Alias SPOOLGEN application only. Each rule defines the properties of an Elbow, using the <CHANGE> tag with attributes that describe the properties to be used to select the Elbow. Possible attributes are ComponentType, EndPrep, MIN and MAX (bores). In addition a number of <RADIUS> tags can define a list of bend radii to be matched.

The DEFAULT-RADIUS attribute defines the radius of the replacement Pulled bend – “ACTUAL” meaning use a Pulled bend of the same radius as the Elbow being replaced.

That is, any Butt welded 90 degree Elbows between 0 and 4” size and with a bend radius of 1 or 1.5 pipe diameters can be replaced with a Pulled bend with the same radius.

The <CHANGE> tag may also contain a list of components (adjacent to the selected Elbow) that may be converted automatically to Pipe. The converted components are identified by ComonentType and SKEY properties.

This tag, if present, defines the lengths used by ISOGEN in determining the allowances to be added to Cut pieces to adjust for the properties of a particular Bending machine.

The <STANDARD-BEND-LENGTHS> tag contains one or more <NS> tags. Each defines a bore range (MIN, MAX attributes) and some adjustment parameters.

The TANGENT attribute is the minimum length required for a single Pulled bend to be pulled in a Bending machine

The ADJACENT attribute is the minimum length required for two adjacent Bends to fit into a Bending machine. If the ADJACENT-JOINED attribute in the <CONTROLS> tag is set, then this value is the minimum for two Pulled bends which are joined with a Weld.

The SINGLE-ADD-ON attribute is the additional length to be added to the Pulled bend to get past ovality on the tube when the ADJACENT-JOINED parameter is set to “Yes”.

The component types that can be defined are currently:

• Elbow-90 with end prep of BW, CP or SW

• FixedPipe with Skey of FPPL

• Coupling

The FixedPipe and Coupling component types are to be used with CP or SW end preps, and are to cater for situations where there is a short stub pipe between the Elbow and the next component.
