Colored Wireframe is the ability to have the wireframe overlay with varying user defined colors.
To change the color of the wireframe overlay, on the menu bar choose View > Viewport Color Scheme > custom. Then on the menu bar choose System > Preferences > Display > Colors and change the value for Color Wireframe. Once you have set the color you need to save this as a Viewport Color Scheme and then apply the scheme to your GL viewport. After saving the scheme, click on the 3D viewport to make sure it is active and then choose the Scheme from the Menu Bar> View> Viewport Color Scheme.
