Tool >> Deform By >> Trackball

 

Step

Execute Tool >> Deform By >> Trackball command as follows.
1. Select Tool >> Deform By >> Trackball from the menu.
2. Pick a polygonal shell.
3. A center trackball and many ball controls show on the screen. The following dialog box appears:

You can control the Trackball Visibilities.
If Show Center Trackball is checked, the center trackball will be shown. Otherwise it will be hidden. You can use the slide bar on the right to adjust the Ball Size.
If Show Ball Controls is checked, the ball controls will be shown. Otherwise it they will be hidden. You can use the slide bar on the right to adjust the Ball Size.
If Show Ball Names is checked, the names of the ball controls will be shown. Otherwise they will be hidden.

If Fix Boundary Vertices is checked, the boundary vertices won't be moved when the shell is under deformation.
If Display Relative Position is check, the coordinates of the feature controls in the list control will be displayed in relative to the local coordinate of the main trackball.
If Hide Dialog When Vertex Picking is checked, when Add... button is clicked, the dialog box will be hidden.
If Reset All is clicked, the deformation amount of all the feature controls will be set as 0.
If Add... is clicked, you can pick vertex to create new feature control there. After picking vertices, you need to select Done on the RMB menu.
If Edit... is clicked, one Ball Properties dialog box of the selected feature control appears:

You can do deformation here by changing the ball properties. After double-click the selected feature control, you can also change its ball properties.
If Delete is clicked, the selected feature control will be removed.
If Delete All is clicked, all the feature controls will be removed.
If Set Balls From Grid... is clicked, the following dialog box appears:

Here you can set the number of the automatically created feature controls. If Project Balls to Nearest Face is checked, the grid point will be projected onto its nearest face and the feature control will be created there.
If Set Balls From Attached Ref. Points is clicked, new feature controls will be created from reference points attached to the picked shell. It is enabled only when there is attached reference points.

4. The deformation can be done in several ways:
Translation - Drag the arrow of one feature control, you can deform the shell along the arrow direction. Drag the origin of one feature control or drag the arrow while holding down Ctrl key, you can deform the shell along the direction the mouse pointer moves.
Rotation - Drag one circle of the main trackball, the rotation will be done along that direction. Put the mouse pointer inside the main trackball, after the ball is highlighted in yellow color, you can do free rotation.
Scaling - Drag one box of the main trackball, the scaling will be done along that direction. Drag one box of the main trackball while holding down Shift key, the shell will be scaled along X, Y, Z directions simultaneously.

5. Click OK to apply deformation. Or click Cancel to quit this operation.
