Build >> Scanner Direct Control >> 3DD Optix (RealScan)
The Build > Scanner Direct Control > 3DD Optix (RealScan) command allows you to operate your Optix 3D scanner directly within RapidForm2004. It gives you the convenience of both scanning and data processing inside a single comprehensive application.
You need to install RealScan USB application before running this command.
Functions
- Select Build >> Scanner Direct Control >> 3DD Optix (RealScan) from the menu. The following dialog box appears.
Hardware Checking
When RealScanUSB is executed, it will check the hardware connections firstly. If this test fails, the program will be locked with an error message frame “Hardware error! Please check cable and restart”. You should close the program and ensure the power and USB cable are connected. Then restart the program.
Settings
In the Data Units pane, three options are available in the scroll down menu: centimeter, millimeter and inch. The default unit is “mm”. The Lens Selection menu shows the lens configuration with the current scanner. For example, "Standard lens", "Wide filed of view", or "High resolution".
Step 1 - Range Control
1.1 - The Gain Control pane may be optionally used to adjust laser camera brightness and the video picture brightness. Use the slider to adjust the brightness. The default setting of Gain Control is zero as shown in the picture above. Gain zero is suitable for white color objects. Increase (decrease) the gain to achieve better quality scan on darker (brighter) objects.
1.2 - X Range Limits
(1) Preview Off: Adjusting scanning extents works the same way as the pervious version. With the Laser On but not Scanning, you can see the laser scan limits relative to the scan subject as the vertical laser line is adjusted in this section. If you have Model 200, you can also view them in the video preview window.
(2) Preview On: Real-time adjustment is available for resetting scanning extents on the Range Preview screen.1.3 - Z Range Cutoff Planes
The “Far” slider sets the location of far cutoff plane. Meanwhile the “Near” slider sets the location of near cutoff plane. Users can adjust scan volume in real time when the Preview button is on.Calibrated Limits
If there is a need for you to scan a target outside the calibrated range of the scanner you may do so by deselecting the Calibrated Limits box. However, the data from outside the calibrated range is likely to be less accurate than the published scanner accuracy. This should only be done if the accuracy of the data points is not critical. A warning box at the top of the dialog window will indicate that the out of range data may be inaccurate.Next
