Tool >> Deform By >> FFD 

• Tool >> Deform By >> FFD is Free-Form Deformation for polygonal model.

• Tool >> Deform By >> FFD command deforms polygonal faces by moving nodes of lattice.

Step   

Execute Tool >> Deform By >> FFD command as follows:

1. Select region or go to next step without selection.

2. Select Tool >> Deform By >> FFD from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the polygon Tool2 toolbar.

3. Select a shell.

4. A lattice is displayed around the selected region or shell and the dialog box in the left appears. And if the right mouse button is clicked, the shortcut menu in the right appears.

   

Pause is used to temporarily stop the current command and change to input ready state. 

Use Manipulator option enables a user to use manipulator.

Deform With Brush option enable a user to select nodes to be deformed with yellow circle. Uncheck this option to use Selection Mode ( Select >> Mode >> Line / Rectangle / Circle / Polyline / Freehand / Paint Brush ) instead of yellow circle by dragging mouse pointer with holding down left mouse button and Shift key. To unselect the arbitrary selected nodes, reselect them with holding down left mouse button and Ctrl key.

After check Select Face Nodes, left mouse click on a plane of control lattice to select all nodes on it.

Check Show Volume Info. and Show Area Info. options to display deformed volume and area information in real time on the bottom of workspace window.

Click Rebuild button after typing in numbers in x, y, z direction to change the lattice size.

Check Use Local Coordinate and click Reset Control Points button to position the direction of lattice in the local coordinate system.

Select one of X, Y, Z axes to apply symmetrical deformation to a shell or selected region.

Check Show Control Points Table to see the coordinates of control points on lattice. Click Save button to save the coordinate table in order to use it in other objects.

5. Left mouse click on any of the selected nodes and drag it while holding down left mouse button. The nodes are translated on the plane of screen view.

6. Press Done to complete the deformation.

Result

• The selected region or shell is deformed in a same fashion as the deformation of lattice nodes.
