• Tool >> Fit Regions To >> Cone command projects selected faces onto a specific cone.

Step   

Execute Tool >> Fit Regions To >> Cone command as follows:

1. Select Tool >> Fit Regions To >> Cone from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the polygon Tool1 toolbar.

2. Click the right mouse button and the following pop-up menu appears.

   

3. Select Select Region and a region to fit it to a conic surface. If there already is a selected region, this step can be skipped. ( See Select region )

4. Click the right mouse button and the following pop-up menu appears.

   

    Press Done button to finish selecting region.

5. To find the most appropriate fitting cone automatically, select Do Cone Fitting. This command is completed.

6. To define the axis of the cone by yourself, select Pick Ref. Vector and a reference vector to be the axis of the fitting cone. 

7. To fit the polygon to a reference cone, select Pick Ref. Cone and a predefined reference cone.

8. Select Do Cone Fitting to complete this command.

• Tool >> Fit Regions To >> Cone command generates undesirable result if the selected region doesn't have a rough conic shape.
