Tool >> Decimate >> Large Data
Tool >> Decimate >> Large Data command reduces the number of faces of a shell with very small amount of memory and very high speed.
This command creates grid boxes and insert all vertices into the boxes. Then, delete all vertices except one vertex for each cell and relocate the left vertices at each box to optimal position in the each cell. Finally, re-triangulates the remained vertices to produce simplified mesh.
Step
- Execute Tool >> Decimate >> Large Data command as follows:
- 1. Select Tool >> Decimate >> Large Data from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the polygon Tool1 toolbar.
- 2. Select a shell. ( See Selecting Shell )
- 3. The following dialog box appears.
![]()
- When it appears, the default number of Grid Resolution and Number of Vertices Before Decimation of selected shell are shown initially in Grid Resolution and Before Decimation field.
- Set the grid resolution to a proper value. If it is 30, about 30x30x30 cells will be created.
- Click the right arrow to preview the number of faces of decimated shell. In this command, you can not directly control the number of faces of decimated shell. Only indirect method such as grid resolution control is allowed due to the limitation of the algorithm.
- 5. Press OK button to complete this command.
Note

If user select OK, texture will be removed after execution, If Cancel, execution will be canceled.
If user does this process on polygon shell with feature region , Below warning message will appear.
