• Measure >> Distance >> Point / Ref. Plane command measures the distance between a point and a reference plane.

Step   

Execute Measure >> Distance >> Point / Ref. Plane command as follows:

1. Select Measure >> Distance >> Point / Ref. Plane from the menu or click the icon from the Measure toolbar.

2. Select a point and a reference plane in order. ( See Selecting point )

During picking points,  User can select point entity on RMB menu as below fig.

 

Point : Any point on polygon face

Vertex : Scanned point

Ref.Point : User made Ref.Point 

Point On Surface : any point on NURBS surface

Point On Curve : any point on NURBS Curve

3. The result appears on the lower left side of the workspace window as follows.

Distance is the distance between the selected point and the reference plane.

Selected Point is the coordinate of the selected point.

Projected Point is the coordinate of the point which is the projection of the selected point onto the reference plane.

Normal of Plane is the normal vector of the reference plane.

Distance corresponds to the linear distance between Selected Point and Projected Point.

• This menu is disabled if there is no reference plane.

• Point on Surface option cannot be applied to surfaces without mesh or if rendering never been executed once. Because picking point algorithm uses rendering information. So Point on Surface option can be applied to TRUE COLOR display mode with rendering information only.
