Inspection >> Dimension >> Linear

Step

Execute   Inspection >> Dimension >> Linear command as follows:

1. Select Inspection >> Dimension >> Linear from the menu or click the corresponding icon from the Inspection toolbar.

2. If there is no visible Section Deviation, the following dialog box pops up:

Options in Dimension Sub Type section decide the type of the dimensions to be generated. Check X-Aligned to create the X direction dimension, Y-Aligned the Y direction dimension, Z-Aligned the Z direction dimension.

Options in Region Type section decide the type of region to create dimensions from. If Point is checked, points are used in creating the dimension. If Center is checked, centers of specific geometries are used in creating the dimension. If Edge is checked, an edge fit to the selected region is used in creating the dimension, and the whole Dimension Sub Type section is disabled. To create a linear dimension, there are these Region Type combinations: Point-Point, Point-Center, Point-Edge, Center-Center, Center-Edge. When Point is checked, right-click to pop up this shortcut menu:

When Center is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

When Edge is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

Click On Shell to select point on the scan shell; or On Ref. Point to select a reference point; or On Curves to select curves, the centers of the geometries fitted to them are used in generating the dimension; or On Ref. Circle to select a reference circle in order to use its center to generate the dimension; or On Ref. Sphere to select a reference sphere in order to use its center to generate the dimension; or On Ref. Cylinder to select a reference cylinder in order to use its center to generate the dimension; or On Ref. Vector to select a reference vector to generate the dimension.

Center Options decide the geometric shapes used to fit the selected region. If Circular is checked, a circle is used in fitting. If Spherical, a sphere is used. If Cylindrical, a cylinder is used.

Edge Options decide where to offset the edge fit to the selected geometry. If Left is checked, the fit edge is offset to the leftmost point. If Center is checked, there is not offset. If Right is checked, the fit edge is offset to the rightmost point.

3. If there is visible Section Deviation,  the view point is transformed so that the section deviation is parallel to the screen and the following dialog box pops up:

Options in Dimension Sub Type section decide the type of the dimensions to be generated. Check X-Aligned to create the X direction dimension, Y-Aligned the Y direction dimension, Z-Aligned the Z direction dimension.

To create a linear dimension, there are these Region Type combinations: Point-Point, Point-Center, Point-Edge, Center-Center, Center-Edge.

In case of Section Deviation With Surfaces (or With Polygon), when Point is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

When Center is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

When Edge is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

In case of Section Deviation With Curves, when Point is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

When Center is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

When Edge is checked, right-click to pop up this menu:

Point Options are used to decide the point location in 2D when Point is checked in the Region Type section and there is at least one visible Section Deviation. If Left is checked, the leftmost point of the selected geometry is used. If Top is checked, the top point. If Bottom is checked, the bottom point. If Right is checked, the rightmost point.

Click On Shell to select point on the scan shell; or On Section to select a point on the section; or On Ref. Vector to select a reference vector to generate the dimension; or On Ref. Plane to select a reference plane with an edge fit to it; or From Curves to select curves, the vertices around them are used in generating the dimension; or On Scan Section to select geometry on the section of the scan shell, or On Design Section to select geometry on the section of the design model.

Center Options decide the geometric shape used to fit the selected region.

4. Select proper options on the RMB menu and select proper geometries.

5. Place the Dimension text box at a proper position.
