Feature >> Interactive Extract >> Polygonal Trim Surface
Feature >> Interactive Extract >> Polygonal Trim Surface command is the function that creates a trimmed surface by making a planar/cylindrical surface from selecting points on the plane/cylinder respectively, and trim it from selected points. When Region Segmentation option is on, it finds automatically planar or cylindrical region around selected points and creates a surface from it. When this option is off, it creates a surface from just information of selected points. At this time, it doesn’t have to make closed loop because of trimming it by connecting a start point and an end point automatically with a straight line.
Step
- Execute Feature >> Interactive Extract >> Polygonal Trim Surface command as follows:
- 1. Select Feature >> Interactive Extract >> Polygonal Trim Surface from the menu or click the corresponding icon on the Feature toolbar. At this time, only selected shells on project tree are shown on the screen.
- 2. The default of Region Segmentation option is ON. ON or OFF for Region Segmentation option by pushing the RMB. When the option is ON, it finds planar/cylindrical region around selected points automatically and creates a plane/cylinder from it. When the option is OFF, it creates a plane/cylinder from just information from selected points. If Region Segmentation option is used, at least 3 points are needed for plane/cylinder. If not, at least 3 points are needed for plane as well, but at least 5 points are needed for cylinder.
- 3. Select the points on outer line that will trim the surface from the region for the planar/cylindrical surface, and then click Done on the RMB.

Note
In
case that
each region’s angle from given seed point get bent unlike a plane, error
message “Selected regions are not planar” will be shown.
(Similarly, if it is not cylindrical then it is not cylinder shape.)
In case that segment is not good because given region is too small, error message “The number of region faces is too small” or “The number of input point it too small” will be shown.
In case that plane region segmentation is failed, error message “Failed to segment planar region, try another points” will be shown.
In case that trim is impossible with given polyline, error message “Failed to trim surface with the corner points, untrimmed surface generated” will be shown, and untrim surface will be created.
