• Feature >> Interactive Extract >> Analytic command creates a surface using polygon feature

Step

Execute Feature >> Interactive Extract  >> Analytic command as follows:

1. Select Feature >> Interactive Extract >> Analytic from the menu.

2. On RMB menu, User can select surface type to be extract, rapidform supports 4 types of surfaces Plane, Cylinder, Cone, Sphere and default is Plane surface.

    Using Pick Feature Region, user can make surface from predefined feature region.

   Using Use Multi Region, user can use multi polygon faces to extract analytic surfaces. To extract surface using this option, after check Use Multi Region option  pick several face which consist feature such as cylinder or plane and then click Done on RMB menu.

     Define By Polyline option is only supported for Plane, Cylinder surface option and make trimmed surfaces using user made polyline 

If you select plane type surface extraction, you can adjust u-vector of surface. After pick seed face for surface making, rapidform will wait input for direction of u-vector. Pick any point, than preview of surface will be rotated by direction of vector  consisted with center of surface and picked point.
 

     After picking point, select Done on RMB menu. then double size of surface will be created on polygon face. here with Start of RMB menu, you can create polyline. after creation of polyline, select Done on RMB menu. you will get trimmed surface made by polyline.

    If rapidform will fail unique loop from the polyline, you will see following error message.

If Option is clicked, the following dialog box appears and user can edit surface extract condition:

In Entity Generation section, a user can Select Register Feature Region if user wants to register the extracted freeform feature; or Generate Reference Geometry if user wants to generate Ref.Geometry from extracted feature;or Generate Surface if user wants to generate surfaces from the extracted feature.

In Angle Tolerance between Faces section, any faces have angle value bigger than the Planar or Curved Region value are not included in the feature extraction process.user can select Generate Periodic Surface option if user wants to make full cylinder,cone, sphere entity using half shaped polygon

If Extend Generated Surface is checked, a user can decide the Extension Method as G1 Extension or G2 Extension. Surface Extend Ratio (%) decides the percentage of the amount of extension to the size of the surface before extension. user can select Shrink Base for Tangential Feature option If user wants to remove boundary noise of polygon or conserve tangential relation with other surface.

Click OK to apply all the settings, or Cancel to quit without change.

• For best fitting, it is recommended to change extract option properly by polygonal status.
