Curve >> Create >> Fit Sharp Edge To Curve
Curve >> Create >> Fit Sharp Edge To Curve command extracts points from sharp edges of selected shells. Then curves can be fitted from points selected from them.
You can make the created curve closed.
This command doesn't work well on shell that doesn't have sharp edge.
Step
- Execute Curve >> Create >> Fit Sharp Edge To Curve command as follows.
- 1. Select Curve >> Create >> Fit Sharp Edge To Curve from the menu.
- 2. The following dialog box appears:
- 3. Enters a crease angle. Then for one edge, the angle between two triangles sharing it will be calculated and compared with the crease angle. If it is smaller than the crease angle, the edge will be treated as sharp edge.
4. Click Shells by crease angle, then select shells which have sharp edges and select Done on the RMB menu. A new shell consisted of the sharp edge points of the selected shell swill be created.
5. Click Curves from shells, and then drag-select the points from which the curve will be created. Select Done on the RMB menu, the following dialog box appears:
Enters a proper Search Radius. It should be a slightly bigger than the average point distance. Click OK. Then a curve will be created from the selected points.
6. The above created curve is not closed. To make it closed, click Make curve closed.
