View > Rotate controls the affect of pointing devices (the trackball and the middle mouse button) on the reorientation of objects in the Viewing Area.
For purposes of the following functions, the computer monitor is always the XY plane and the Z axis always points at the user’s face.
View > Rotate > Around X - restricts reorientation of the object to rotation on the X axis only.
View > Rotate > Around Y - restricts reorientation of the object to rotation on the Y axis only.
View > Rotate > Around Z - restricts reorientation of the object to rotation on the Z axis only.
View > Rotate > Trackball - (in conjunction with
Align On Axis) restores the ability
to reorient the object on three axes simultaneously.
View > Rotate > Align On Axis - (in conjunction
with Trackball) restricts reorientation
to two axes at a time.
View > Rotate > Camera - a reorientation mode
in which the user’s perspective of the object changes, while the object
and the coordinate system do not move with respect to each other.
View > Rotate > Model (default) - a reorientation
mode in which the object appears move with respect to the coordinate system.
