File > Screen Capture provides several methods of capturing screen images for documenting your work:
Application - saves an image of the entire Geomagic application window to a user-specified file.
Rendered Views - saves the contents of the Viewing Area to a user-specified file.
Advanced - saves the contents of the Viewing Area to a user-specified file, with control of resolution and background color. The parameters are:
Resolution group - controls the number of pixels in the saved image.
X Pixels - determines the width of the saved image.
Y Pixels - determines the height of the saved image.
Aspect Ratio (Square, Same As View, None) - Square sets the Y Pixels value or the X Pixels value to the value of the other (depending on which is held constant below) to achieve a square image; Same as View modifies X Pixels or Y Pixels (depending on which is held constant below) to replicate the current proportion of the Viewing Area; None creates an image that is exactly X by Y pixels.
Constant (X horizontal, Y vertical) applicable when Aspect Ratio is Same As View - specifies whether the X Pixels or the Y Pixels value above is held constant and the other allowed to float when Aspect Ratio is set to “Same as View” or “None”.
Attributes group - controls the background of the saved image.
White Background checkbox - specifies whether to eliminate the background shading from the Viewing Area and store the image with a white background, making it more compatible for use with other applications or for printing.
Capture button - prompts for the location and name of a file and stores the contents of the Viewing Area in that file.
Done button - closes the Advanced Screen Capture dialog.
Take Snapshot - stores file named snap_timestamp, with a (.bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tif) suffix to the file system.
Take Snapshot and Notes - the same as Take Snapshot, but with a text box into which to type a description of the work. In addition to the image file, text is stored in a file named snap_timestamp.txt.
The Take Snapshot and Screen Capture functions are similar. Advanced Screen Capture allows user input of parameters every time, and is useful for one-time capture or special situations. The Take Snapshot functions (with or without notes) operate according to pre-defined preferences, making them suitable for repetitive image-capture. Any time before a user captures any type of image, therefore, the administrator must specify preferences at Tools > Options > General > Directories and Tools > Options > Graphics > Snapshots.
