Edit > Simulate Scan creates an ordered point object from an unordered point object or polygon object that is selected in the Model Manager. Only the currently visible points are “scanned”. The product is named the same as the original, plus “Scan”. Compare to Edit > Create Point Cover.
The controls are:
Resolution group - specifies the density of points in the ordered point object that will be created.
Width field - the created point object will contain roughly Width columns of points.
Height field - the created point object will contain roughly Height rows of points.
Parameter group -
Filter Angle field - simulates the filter angle control of a real scanning device. Points on the surface whose normals are more than Angle degrees away from the user’s line of sight are not included in the simulated scan object.
OK button - stores a simulated scan in the Model Manager and terminates the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without creating a new object.
