Edit > Mirror Model creates a symmetry by duplicating the structure of an object on the other side of a working plane. The original region may be kept, resulting in a symmetrical object, or the original region may be discarded, resulting in an inverse object.
This operation is often useful when you have performed detailed, manual work on one side of an already symmetrical object and you want to duplicate the work on the other side.
To use this operation, you will first choose a working plane that intersects the object. This working plane can be chosen based on a boundary or can be chosen using the standard methods for aligning planes. After you have chosen the working plane, you will make choices about the object on each side of the working plane.
The parameters are:
Mouse Use radio buttons (only for polygon objects) - specify whether the bisecting plane will be defined by a user-specified plane or existing boundary.
Pick Plane - specifies that you will use the Align Plane group of controls to specify a bisecting plane.
Pick Boundary - specifies that you will select an existing boundary as a bisecting plane.
Auto Fit checkbox (applicable when Mouse Use is Pick Boundary) - specifies whether
Align Plane Method (dropdown) - specifies a method of aligning a plane to the object. See Methods of Superimposing Planes.
Flip Only checkbox - specifies that a mirrored part of the object will be created and the existing part deleted, giving the appearance that the object was simply flipped about the plane.
OK button - saves the modified object to the Model Manager and terminates the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without saving the modified object.
Apply button - performs the mirroring operation.
