Tools > Registration > Target Registration registers two or more point or polygon objects based on the targets that were found by Tools > Registration > Detect Sphere Targets. At least three targets must have been found on each object.
In the Model Manager, select two or more objects or groups of objects that have tooling balls detected by Detect Sphere Targets. The controls are:
Auto Registration group - The first step in a registration process is to select a Matching Sensitivity and click Register.
Matching Sensitivity slider (five settings from Min to Max) - Max requires that targets match almost perfectly. Min allows registration with inexact targets.
Register button - attempts to reorient the objects so that their targets lie at the same coordinates. Sets of objects that register with each other easily are put into registration groups. Ideally, all point objects end up in the same group.
Remove Sphere Data checkbox - hides all data within all detected tooling balls. Removal becomes permanent when you click OK.
Review Alignment group (applicable after Register is clicked) - is a visual confirmation that the point objects were registered correctly.
Beginning, Back 1, Forward 1, and Last target arrow buttons, and target number indicator - selects each point object, one at a time, as the initial member of the set that is subject to the Remove From Group button. To add or subtract from the set, Shift-LeftClick or Ctrl-LeftClick additional objects in the Viewing Area. The goal is to build a set of objects that appear to be mis-registered.
Remove From Group button - Click this if the currently selected set of objects appears to be mis-registered. The object is removed to its own registration group for further processing by Manual Matching.
Show All button - shows all objects. Press this button to exit the Review Alignment function and advance to the Manual Matching function.
Manual Matching button (applicable when more than one registration group exists) - allows manual matching of targets in one registration group to the targets in another registration group. The Viewing Area changes to three panels. Select one registration group as the fixed group and one as the float group (either in the dialog or in the lower panel), then select three or more pairs of targets in the upper panels. (Use Ctrl-Z to un-pick pairs of targets if necessary). Press Register to reorient the float registration group into the fixed registration group. Repeat until just one registration group exists.
Define Sets dialog -
Fixed radio button and list - allows the designation of one registration group as the one which will exist after Register.
Floating radio button and list - allows the designation of one registration group as the one which will be reoriented to the Fixed group after Register.
Show RGB Color checkbox - applies a color to all objects in each registration group.
Register button - reorients the float group to the fixed.
Done button - closes this Manual Matching dialog.
OK button - saves the objects in their adjusted positions and terminates the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without saving objects in their new positions.
