Tools > Options > Display controls the behavior of graphical tools in the user interface.
Tools > Options > Display > Accessories - controls preferences for the behavior of graphical tools in the Viewing Area.
Tools > Options > Display > Magnify - controls magnification and rotation of objects in the Viewing Area.
Tools > Options > Display > Navigation - controls the motion and appearance of objects in the Viewing Area.
Tools > Options > Display > Selection - controls the methods by which points or polygons are selected in the Viewing Area.
Tools > Options > Display > Accessories controls preferences for the behavior of graphical tools in the Viewing Area.
Front View Orientation group - controls the orientation of the Front View. This allows conformance with other applications that display 3D data.
Y is Up radio button - in a front view, the Y axis points upward (the default in Geomagic products)
Z is Up radio button - in a front view, the Z axis points upward (the standard for some 3D engineering products).
Ground Plane checkbox - activates a ground plane, a plane that is parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the model’s XZ axis.
Ground Shadow checkbox - activates a shadow of the object on the ground plane.
Background - The background of the Viewing Area can be one of:
• Single Color - specifies a uniform, single-color background.
• Gradient radio button - specifies a gradually changing color.
• Image radio button and Image Name - specifies a .BMP, .JPG, .PNG, or .TIF that appears in the background.
• Maintain Aspect Ratio checkbox (applicable when the Image radio button is pressed) - specifies whether to fill the Viewing Area horizontally or vertically without distorting the image.
Datum/Feature Label dropdown - specifies the default form of the label that appears in an annotation for a datum or feature.
Tools > Options > Display > Magnify controls magnification and rotation of objects in the Viewing Area.
Automatic Set Rotation Center checkbox - If checked, the rotation center will be recomputed to be the center of the view.
Automatic View Reset checkbox - If checked, the views will be reset to their defaults when an object is added or removed.
Pan Position History checkbox - specifies whether
Camera Orientation History checkbox - specifies whether
Center of Rotation History checkbox - specifies whether
Tools > Options > Display > Navigation controls the motion and appearance of objects in the Viewing Area.
Mode - Three navigation modes are offered. Pick one.
Spherical radio button (the default mode) - creates a virtual bounding sphere roughly 150% larger then the bounding box of the activated objects. Clicking and dragging with the Center Mouse Buttonor Ctrl-RightClick will display the virtual sphere. If the user drags the pointer within the bounds of the sphere the model will rotate as though the cursor was holding onto a point on the sphere. If the cursor goes outside the bounds of the sphere, the model will pivot about the viewing axis through the center of the sphere.
Planar radio button - Similar to the Spherical method without the bounding control sphere. Clicking and dragging with the Center Mouse Buttonor Ctrl-RightClick will cause the model to rotate about its bounding box center.
Fly Thru radio button (a worthless navigation system) - allows the user to fly through the scene. Pressing the Center Mouse Button or Ctrl-RightClick will slowly fly forward. The location of the cursor controls the direction of "flight", centering the cursor in the graphics window will fly forward. Moving it to the right edge of the screen will cause you to turn right, etc. The flight has no relationship to the boundary of the model so you can easily zoom past and away from the model. You can reset the view with Ctrl-r.
Spherical - settings that apply when Mode is Spherical.
Friction (0 to 100) - affects the inertia of the model after rotating. 100% is maximum friction, causing the model to stop rotating immediately after a rotation. 0% means no friction, such that the model continues to rotate until a new rotation command is given.
Axis Align checkbox - Snaps any rotation to the vertical or horizontal screen axis.
Show Arcs checkbox - Shows or hides the arcs of the "virtual sphere".
Invert Scroll Wheel Zoom checkbox - changes the direction of zoom when using the mouse wheel. The default is to roll back to zoom in, roll forward to zoom out. The invert option switches this. This is not specific to Spherical mode, and we don't know why it's here on the menu.
Fly Thru - controls the behavior of Fly Thru Mode that can be activated on the Display Manager tab of the Manager Panel.
• Speed decimal field - specifies the rate at which the camera moves through the scene. From 0 (no forward motion...) to 100 (full forward motion...)
• Pointer Mode checkbox - no discernable effect.
Tools > Options > Display > Selection controls the methods by which points or polygons are selected in the Viewing Area.
Selection Size - controls the size of a selection area when picking in various commands (such as Polygons > Sandpaper.)
(image) - indicates the size of the pick area.
Selection Box Size (integer) - specifies the size of the pick area.
Paintbrush Tool Radius - controls the size of the paintbrush circular area used by Edit > Selection Tools > Paintbrush
(image) - indicates the size of the circular area.
Paintbrush Radius (integer) - specifies the size of the circular area.
Line Tool Width - controls the width of the line used by Edit > Selection Tools > Line
(image) - indicates the line width
Line Width (integer) - specifies the line width
Crease Angle decimal field - establishes the default for Edit > Select > By Crease Angle and Edit > Selection Tools > Crease Angle Mode.
Expand Multi (integer) - specifies the number of iterations performed by Edit > Select > Expand Multi.
Shrink Multi (integer) - specifies the number of iterations performed by Edit > Select > Shrink Multi.
Paintbrush and Lasso Cursor radio button set - specifies which cursor set is used during paintbrush and lasso selections.
Use Default Selection Cursor radio button - uses images representing either a paintbrush or a lasso.
Use Small Cursor radio button - uses a smaller hand icon.
