Tools > Licensing enables this instance of the application to operate.
The License Tool window contains the following:
Licenses group - displays the path(s) to locally installed license files and to license servers on the local network, and lists the product feature groups that are authorized by the first license that can be found.
Configuration group - is a list of feature groups that are authorized by the license, each with a checkbox to specify whether you want that feature group to operate in this instance of the Geomagic product. Typically, leave all feature names checked.
Entitlement Number button - displays the license entitlement number, issued by Geomagic, Inc. This works like a password in communication with the license server. Geomagic Technical Support sometimes requests this information.
Host ID button - indicates the mac address of this computer’s Ethernet card, plus the serial number of the local hard disk, used to establish the unique identity of this computer when communicating with the license server.
Setup button - allows the configuration license file(s), either none-locked or floating.
License Paths group - lists the locations of node-locked and floating licenses. The order of the licenses in this list is important. The first license that can be found is the one that controls functionality of the product. Use the Up and Down buttons to control the priority of the licenses locations in the list.
Node-Locked License (in the form of directory path and file name) is a license that allows the software to run on a single, specific computer.
Floating License (in the form PortNumber@ServerName, such as 27000@license) is “served” by FlexLM Server software on that named server. A floating license enables a maximum number of simultaneous users on a single corporate network.
Install-Time License Paths group - no function.
OK button - saves the changes and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without saving changes.
