Tools > Move > Exact Position - moves an object a specified distance or to any absolute location in the World coordinate system.
The controls are:
Translation input fields - specify X, Y, and Z values of desired shift.
Move button - moves the selected object in the specified direction.
Rotation input fields - specify X, Y, and Z values of desired rotation.
Rotate button - rotates the selected object in the specified directions around all three axes.
Coordinates dialog - specifies governing coordinate system.
World radio button - supports relative and absolute movements.
Object radio button - supports only relative movements.
Movement dialog - specifies motion within governing coordinate system.
Absolute radio button - valid choice for only the World coordinate system.
Relative radio button - valid choice for either the World or the Object coordinate system.
Principal button - aligns the selected model’s dominant features to the principal axes of the global coordinate system.
OK button - applies changes and closes dialog.
Cancel button - discards changes and closes dialog.
To move an object to an exact position of the world coordinate system:
Click Tools > Move > Exact Position.
Choose a movement type for translation:
• Choose Absolute if you want to enter specific coordinates to reposition the model to.
• Choose Relative if you want to enter changes in position, thereby specifying extent of movement.
3. Choose a coordinate system:
• If you chose Absolute in step 2, choose World.
• Choose World if you want to rotate the model with respect to the World axes.
• Choose Object if you want to rotate the model with respect to model axes.
Enter the amount of translation in the Translation X, Y, and Z value boxes.
Click Move. All data will be recalculated; all points will have new World coordinates.
Enter the amount of rotation in degrees in the Rotation [about] X Axis, Y Axis, and Z Axis value boxes.
Click Rotate.
Repeat steps as many times as you want with various choices. All data will be recalculated; all points except the center of rotation will have new World coordinates.
When you are finished, click OK, or click Cancel at any time to exit the operation.
