A Point Target Datum is a “point datum with a tolerance.” It is specified as a specific point and a radius. Additionally, the normal of a point target datum can be adjusted to differ from the normal of the surface on which it lies.
This describes the Method Input section as it differs for the various Point Target Method buttons.
When the Datum Type is Point Target, the Point Target Method can be any one of the following. The contents of the subsequent Method Input section depends on the Point Target Method, too.
Point Target Method
is Best Fit - A point target datum whose method is Best Fit
is a point target datum that is centered within a region of the surface.
Position it by selecting the region. Further specify a tolerance (a radius)
and an adjustment to its normal.
Point Target Method
is One Point - Position the point target datum by selecting
an exact location. Further specify a tolerance (a radius) and an adjustment
to its normal.

When Point Target Method is Best Fit, the Method Input section is:
Instruction: “Select region for fitting.”
X,Y,Z - indicates the position of a point at the center of the region that was selected on the object in the Viewing Area.
Normal field (default is the normal of the surface) - allows adjustment of the normal of this point target datum.
Radius field - specifies the radius (the tolerance) of this point target datum
Apply button - generates an image of the datum in the Viewing Area.
Next button - stores the datum in the Current Datums list and the Model Manager and prepares the dialog for the creation of another datum.

When Point Target Method is One Point, the Method Input section is:
Instruction: “Specify a point.”
Five buttons for point selection technique (surface, center, vertex, datum, curve) -
X,Y,Z - indicates the position of a point that was selected on the object in the Viewing Area.
