In Geomagic Studio, alignment is the reorientation of an object’s coordinate system so that it matches the coordinates of another object (or a geometric entity such as a plane).
Tools > Alignment >
Datum Feature Alignment
aligns one object with another with respect to the datums or features
that exist on both.
Tools > Alignment > Best Fit Alignment
(does not apply to point objects) changes the coordinates of one object
to match the other using a best-fit algorithm.
Tools > Alignment > To Viewer rotates an object so that a specified point is “closest” to the user.
Tools > Alignment > To Object moves an “active” (movable) object into alignment with a “target” (fixed) object, one plane at a time.
Tools > Alignment > To Plane makes one plane of an object perpendicular to an axis of the world coordinate system.
Tools > Alignment > Depth Plane establishes the position of the “depth plane,” a tool that limits selections to points on one side or the other.
Tools > Alignment > To World aligns datums or features of a selected object to planes, axes, or the origin of the World object, or to datums that may have been copied to the World object.
