Polygons > Clean applies a sophisticated shape-correction algorithm that alters the triangulation of a polygon object. Clean makes the polygonal surface conform to the shape designated by the underlying point set. Depending on the situation, the Clean operation can remove dents, smooth cylindrical sections, or sharpen edges. A Free Form option has been added that produces a mesh and performs a degree of relaxation/smoothing.
Designed to change only the connection topology, this operation does not add points nor alter the current position of points (unless you are working in Free Form mode). This can be extremely useful when the curved edge of a model contains dents or chips and adjusting the topology might produce better results.
This function operates on a selected set of triangles, or on the whole object if no triangles are selected.
The only control is:
Smooth checkbox - specifies whether to remove fine details during the cleaning.
To clean a polygon surface:
Select a region of triangles, or make no selection which causes the entire object to be affected.
Click Polygons > Clean.
Check the Smooth checkbox if necessary.
Click OK to apply the operation, or click Cancel to exit the operation without making changes.
