Points > Detect > Planes searches a point cloud (or a selected region of a point cloud), detects, and selects clusters of points that represent planes.
Threshold field - specifies the sensitivity with which the application looks for points that are in a planar (or cylindrical or names or X) region. More specifically, the Threshold sets a standard of criteria that points must meet before they are identified. The lower the setting, the more points meet that criteria.
Un-Named group
Min Percent field - helps eliminate points that were falsely identified as belonging to the planar (or cylindrical) region. This feature helps sort out points that may lie on a nearby plane (or cylinder). This can also help exclude noise.
Thickness field - helps determine a region above or below the ideal plane that the application uses as criteria to determine whether or not points in that region are part of the plane. A higher Thickness setting instructs the application to look in a thicker layer of points. A lower setting instructs the application to look in a thinner layer of points.
Apply button - activates the detection process, using the Threshold, Min Percent, and Thickness parameters above.
Clusters N group (appears after Apply is pressed; where N indicates the number of unique point clusters that represent planes) -
Selection radio button - highlights the points from which the planes (or cylinders) were identified.
Colors radio button - distinguishes multiple detected planes (or cylinders) by assigning a different color to each. Planes that share the same normals are displayed in the same color.
Cluster radio button - activates the Index text box, which allows individual and sequential highlighting of detected planes (or cylinders).
Index field (applicable when Cluster is pressed) - highlights one of several detected clusters.
Hide Others checkbox (applicable when Index is greater than 1) - specifies whether to hide all detected Clusters except the Cluster whose number is Index.
OK button - saves detected Plane sub-objects (or detected Cylinder sub-objects) in a Clusters folder under the point object in the Model Manager, and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - closes the dialog without saving sub-objects to the Model Manager.
