Points > MicroScribe > Digitize collects points from a physical object and creates an unordered point object in the Model Manager.
Click Points > Digitize.
A small green dot appears on the screen representing the tip of the digitizer stylus. If the message “Can’t start digitizing session” appears, re-check the digitizer’s connections to the computer and verify that the MicroScribe Digitizer options are set correctly. If so, turn the digitizer off, then on again.
Position the digitizer stylus on the object. Press and hold the left foot pedal and begin scribbling over the surface. Geomagic applications record points at the stylus tip while the foot pedal is pressed. Be careful not to move the stylus off the object while you are holding the foot pedal because it will continue to record points.
Release the left foot pedal to stop recording points.
When you reach the desired point set, save the file.
If necessary, begin editing operations.
Note: A bounding box fits inside the Viewing Area. The default bounding box assumes the object fills the space reached by the digitizing arm. If the object is much smaller, the points are clustered in a tiny region on the screen and you may need to reset the bounding box.
