Points > Add Points (applicable to unordered point objects only) adds individual points to a point object, used for fine tuning of the object.
This function modifies the selected object permanently.
The concept is to specify a plane on which to create points, to create those points by clicking the mouse at exact positions on that plane, and to repeat the cycle until a sufficient number of points are created.
The controls are:
Mouse Use group - specifies the current function of the mouse. Pick one:
Pick Point radio button - every left-click of the mouse creates one new point on the plane in the current object. If points must be created on a different plane, click the Define Plane radio button.
Define Plane radio button - the mouse defines a plane on which points can be added to the object.
Align Plane group - controls the placement of a plane in the Viewing Area. When the plane rests where additional points are needed on the object, go to the Mouse Use section and click Pick Point.
Align plane drop-down list - (appears only when the Define Plane radio button is pressed) specifies one of four ways to superimpose a plane on the point object. For each method, an appropriate set of controls allow placement of the plane.
Three Points - use the left mouse button to select three points on the desired plane.
System Plane - define the desired plane by rotating it in reference to the system plane in the XY-plane, XZ-plane, or YZ-plane, and moving it forward or backwards in reference to the system plane by modifying the Position value.
Object Datum Plane - define the desired plane by moving it forward or backwards in reference to the system plane by modifying the value.
World Datum Plane - define the desired plane by moving it forward or backwards (Z axis) in reference to the system plane by modifying the value.
Position field - adjusts the position of the plane so that points can be added in different places
OK button - saves the optimized point object to the Model Manager and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - closes the dialog without saving the a modified point object.
