Patches > Patch Template > Mirror (applies to a Patch Template Object, as created by Patches > Patch Template > Convert To, that is selected in the Model Manager) - copies a patch template to the opposite side of a plane. This helps create symmetrical templates by requiring that only half of a patch template be perfected.
Before mirroring the template, it may be necessary to delete half of the patch template with the Add/Remove Patches operation. Next you must select the edge and superimpose the depth plane appropriately.
Align Plane group - specifies a method of superimposing a depth plane, but only if the Define Plane radio button is pressed below.
Unnamed Dropdown - See Methods of Superimposing Planes. The most common method of superimposing a plane in this situation is a Best Fit through the boundary about which the template is to be mirrored.
Position field - fine-tunes the position of the depth plane by moving it in its positive or negative normal direction.
Mouse Use group - controls the mouse action.
Pick Boundary radio button - activates a special boundary-selection mode. Each click of the mouse highlights a segment of the boundary. A plane that best fits all clicked boundary segments will be superimposed.
Define Plane radio button - activates the Align Plane group above.
Execute button - extends the template by mirroring the patches from one side of the superimposed plane onto the other side.
OK button - saves the mirrored template to the Model Manager and closes the dialog.
Cancel button - terminates the dialog without mirroring the template.
To extend a patch template by mirroring it:
Click Patches > Patch Template > Mirror Template. A dialog opens.
Typically, click the Pick Boundary radio button, then click several segments of the boundary about which you want to mirror the patch template.
Click the Define Plane radio button to deactivate boundary-picking mode.
Open the Align Plane dropdown. While it is dropped down, highlight Best Fit and press Enter.
If necessary, use the thumbwheel to move the plane slightly.
Click Execute to mirror the template.
Click OK to accept the mirrored template, or Cancel to terminate the dialog.
